The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
